Pliability of Math is based on distinctions and math play that have successfully supported students for over a decade.
In the past few years, I've had multiple Middle School Directors and Counselors have asked why students who think well and who do well in school are not testing as well as they could in math. This class was created to addresses that concern.
Students enter high school as one group with different skill levels, interests, and backgrounds. They come from amazing schools which all have different curriculums.
Strengthen math skills by learning to perceive differences, to play with math opposites, and to layer what you've already been taught in school.
Students in high school have very different skill levels and backgrounds when it comes to math. They may or may not be ready to see the subtle variations of questions that show up on the SAT & ACT.
Students learn to perceive differences in the most common, higher level math problems on the SAT & ACT. They can learn how to see through problems, avoid traps in their thinking, and unpack problems that seem more confusing than they are.
Math Boot Camp 1 starts students out working through more familiar material in complex problems. Students are challenged, and every week gets more difficult. Math Boot Camp 2 takes over where Math Boot Camp 1 leaves off. These classes are for students who want to score between 600-800 in math on their SATs.
Increased Variation can lead to Flexibility in Thinking.
Frame Math for Future Learning.
Action & Reversal: learning to make choices, reverse, pivot, and move in multiple directions.
Early primer for what students need in High School.
Live, ONLINE, instructor led classes. (Student's can eat dinner in class!)
No commute!
Recordings of Classes. If students have to miss a class, we record it for them!
Though we won't be covering ALL math topics in one course, we group topics and present them in a way that can support students to think about what they are learning. These are NOT courses that directly repeats content taught in school, though we use that content to play with math. We will cover some of the core concepts that students need in Test Prep Math.
Students have amazing math teachers who work hard with them over the year to understand concepts. This class teaches students how to play with those concepts, how to think about, and how to work with math to increase their perception.
TPA Math Programs are built to teach students how to become flexible in their thinking with math and to prepare students to learn more math in the future!
This class will likely only run once a year. This year, class size is limited! Min: 5 & Max: 16 students. Why? Because right now, the most potent results for this kind of shift in mental processes, variation, and distictions comes from small, intensive group programs.
This class will be 100% online in a private classroom. Students learn from the safety and comfort of their own home, and every class is unique because of the students in the class. (Classes may be recorded.)
If you're not sure whether or not this class is the right first step for your child, . . .
